You are right. The mk4 factory fit is 235/40/18 or 234/45/17, BUT the mk4.5 factory fit is 235/45/18 or 215/50/17. Ford seem to have changed wheel widths, offsets and tyre sizes throughout the life of the mk4/4.5 Mondeo. Round my neck of the woods, the main rounds aren't the best kept and the country lanes even worse!!!
